My colleague has a soft spot for whisky from this distillery, mention the M word and you better have a few minutes to spare as he will not stop talking about all the different whiskies he has tasted from this distillery.
Colour: Whisky
Nose: An aroma of sultanas and raisins being slowed cooked in Aga with a hint of smoked apple and sweet toffee
Palate: Such a smooth sweet taste that just melts on your tongue, the burst of flowery spices from the sherry cask just engulfs your mouths.
Finish: I find the sweetness of the toffee and hint of smoke is pleasantly overwhelming and just keepings on going until your ready for your next sip.
Verdict: This was an amazing dram from Mortlach and was a firm favourite for many a whisky drinker. Why they decided to discontinue this bottling just beggars belief, another wonderful whisky that has been conceded to the history books.
